Maruti Suzuki sales rise for fourth consecutive month
Domestic sales at the car market leader rose 29% to 98,304 units in August over a year ago
Mumbai: Domestic sales at car market leader Maruti Suzuki India Ltd rose 29% to 98,304 units in August over a year ago, the company said in a statement on Monday. This is the fourth month that sales have risen.
The sales were led by a 53.2% increase in the collective sales of the Swift, Dzire and Celerio models, which went up to 46,759 units against 30,512 units over the previous year.
Reflecting a turnaround in the broader car market, sales rose across all segments at the local unit of the Japanese car maker. The company’s passenger vehicle segment, which includes the Ertiga among other models, also rose 20%.
The company’s exports, too, increased 10.3% to 12,472 units compared with a year ago.
Maruti’s shares gained 2.38% to ₹ 2,850.08 at 10:44am on BSE. The exchange’s benchmark Sensex index was up 0.67% to 26,816.59 points.
