Tata Group announces second career initiative for women

This one is for women who are raring to go back to work after a career break. The Tata Group, a leading conglomerate, has flagged off a programme that will provide women who have taken a career break an opportunity to intern with its group companies. Called the Second Career Internship Programme, the initiative offers women a chance to work on projects over a six-month period on a flexible-time basis. The programme is open to women with qualification in management, accountancy, law or engineering, with minimum 4 years of experience in functions like HR, Marketing, Finance, Legal or Manufacturing and who have taken a career break of less than 8 years. The programme will initially be offered only at Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Pune is likely to be scaled up to other locations in the future.
"This programme provides a platform to women who are ready to resume their career after taking a break. We recognize that often women are ready to resume their career, but do not know where and how to start. We have designed the programme with flexible time and remuneration as per industry standards," says Satish Pradhan, executive vice president, Group Human Resources, Tata Sons Ltd.
