I have no way of validating this, nor do I know whether it is the lightest and thinnest issue in the magazine&amp;#39;s history.Wired, and&lt;a href="http://www.redherring.com/Magazine/"&gt; Red Herring&lt;/a&gt; rode the dotcom boom in the late 1990s and the early 2000s before downsizing significantly when the boom went bust. Even in those days (and I made a trip to the storeroom and took a cursory look at dusty back issues of Wired stacked there), I do not thing Wired was ever as thin and light as the January edition.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;So, what does this mean? Simply that the US advertising market is shrinking, as indicated by &lt;a href="http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123111923883152873.html"&gt;this article&lt;/a&gt; in The Wall Street Journal . &amp;quot;With U.S. ad spending expected to fall 6.2% to $161.8 billion this
year, marketers and ad firms will be forced to do more with less, say
advertising gurus,&amp;quot; says the article. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;That&amp;#39;s probably happening in India as well. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
