Steps to restore faith in govt - Anshuman Goenka

We need restored confidence in the government, now.

First, induct tested domain experts in top government.  In 1991, this worked for our finances.  Bring a top policeman (eg KPS Gill) and a foreign affairs expert (eg Shashi Tharoor) in the North & South Blocks.

Second, raise public opinion in the Islamic world to focus on getting only India’s two most wanted: Dawood Ibrahim & Masood Azhar.

Third, seek special, final courts to complete the judicial process on terror under-trials within 6 months, including Abu Salem & Afzal Guru.

Fourth, work with the Opposition and remove legislators with criminal records.  Starve terrorists the support of crime, illicit funding & politics.  Attack key Naxal hideouts to prevent internal security risks.

Fifth, work with large business to ensure no lay-offs for 18 months:  economic insecurity should not compound the fear of terror.  Enable this with monetary & fiscal support.

In August 1996 Gill was convicted of sexually harassing a senior Punjabi female civil servant, Rupan Deol Bajaj, for pinching/ slapping her bottom while inebriated at a party [7][8][9]. Mr Gill had to pay a hefty fine and was sentenced to three years in prison which was later reduced to probation.
