There is a great article published in HBR 'Work Life Balance' this talks about three types of women managers one, who wants to excel in carrer at any cost, family gets second priority. For this type it does not matter who bring up their kids. The second category also most common, is of women who give priority to family and keep working with some years of gap here n there. This category will trade off promotions, salary hike and other things to give more quality time to their kids and family. They play more active role in family matters compared to their husbands and can be a big asset to the organization for small comfort they will show big loyalties towards the employer firm. The third, leaves career post marriage/maternity.

Analyst showed that compared to a male managers 43 yrs. of career, a woman manager in second category still manages to give 38 yrs. to her working life, which if you compare is quite significant and not much different than their male counterparts. The article talked about what strategies top executives and firms need to adopt to keep this second category to women interested in job and maintain them.

The sad part is in a country like us, even the top executives would have not read and thought over this.
