Posted by Sidin Vadukut at
The dedicated tech bloggers of Gizmodo.com have just informed us of the first cool product to come from IFA 2008: the 40-inch Sony LCD HDTV that is just 9.9 mm thick . And at just $4,500 or so it is perfect for us to appreciate from a long distance. All the dirt on the TV here and here . And read the Gizmodo liveblog post on the Sony conference here...

That cute iPhone girl

Posted by Sidin Vadukut at
Wait! This is not another run-of-the-mill iPhone post. Hang on. So this guy in the UK buys the iPhone 3G, brings it home, switches it on and connects it to his iTunes app only to find PICTURES OF A CHINESE GIRL ON IT! While pre-loaded content on a gizmo is always welcome news, I don't know if random photos of a Chinese girl working in the iPhone...

Way Off-Target

The cheerfully alliterative Gunning for Gold , a game by the gaggle of game-designers at Games2Win.com , is the latest outlet for general Abhinav Bindra adulation – which, having taken over Twitter , Blogspot , and even the murky netherworlds of Rediff , is breaking into that next big bastion of modern-day internet buzzwords. Interactivity. Except that...

Mid-week Gaming: Fighter Jets, Green Tanks, and Exploding Cars

Posted by Krish Raghav at
Just another day in the flash gaming world, eh? Playing Mad Monday is like watching an animated episode of World’s Wildest Police Videos , minus the grating announcer and the endless blurry, punch-drunk, slow motion replays . It’s fast (controls polished till they shine), colourful (especially the fantastically exaggerated explosions), and obviously...

The Douglas Marillier Shot

Posted by Krish Raghav at
Remember Douglas Marillier? (I promise not to use the 'remember [person.object/pop culture reference]?' gimmick ever again, but this post needs that remembering) Douglas Marillier was the Zimbabwean man who added the word 'Marilliered' to the dictionary. Most notably to the dictionary of Indian cricket fans, when he used the aforementioned...

No shiny new iPhone for me! - The price is out and how

Posted by Sidin Vadukut at
Unless I am recruited by an investment bank in the next, oh, ten days or so, there is NO way I am going to fork out the iPhone prices that Tech2.com just flashed today: The 8 GB version of the iPhone 3G will cost Rs. 31,000, while the 16 GB version will cost between Rs. 36,000 and Rs. 37,000. These prices are not inclusive of the plan these phones will...

Calling a WikiTaxi

Remember Microsoft’s Encarta ? 6-7 years ago, any new PC was incomplete without the venerable ‘multimedia encyclopedia’ smugly occupying 50 mb of hard disk space – almost everyone I knew had a copy bundled or pre-installed (Often the only piece of legal software in possession). The sheer flashiness of its user interface (complete with orchestral intro...

Mohanlal beats Rajni and Kamal hands down

Posted by Sidin Vadukut at
Now before you go all "Rediff messageboard" on this post give me a second here. I am not trying to say that Mohanlal, that timeless hero of the Malayalam film scene, actually bettered his Tamil brothers in any challenge physical or thespian. (Though he would do so without breaking into a sweat of course.) No no. Instead he beats them on the...

What does the Internet think of you?

Posted by Krish Raghav at
So…yeah. Hi. My name is Krish Raghav, and I’ll be your friendly neighbourhood co-blogger on Play Things with Mr. Sidin. I fumbled around on the Internet a bit to see what I could say by way of an introduction (I’m terrible at those) - Then I figured I could just use the good old ways, and ask others to introduce me instead! Meet my recommendation-letter...

Cashing in on Independence Day

Posted by Sidin Vadukut at
It is that time of the year when marketeers everywhere are desperately trying to devise "new and improved" products splashed all over with saffron, white and green. During my Monday morning inbox update I was informed of this new product: Logitech just announced the launch of the cool Indi mouse- Logitech Tri Color Mouse. The tri colored mouse...
