This is not another run-of-the-mill iPhone post. Hang on.

So this guy in the UK buys the iPhone 3G, brings it home, switches it on and connects it to his iTunes app only to find PICTURES OF A CHINESE GIRL ON IT!

While pre-loaded content on a gizmo is always welcome news, I don't know if random photos of a Chinese girl working in the iPhone factory qualify. The news was posted by the owner of the phone, username markm49uk, on a Macrumors forum:

Not sure if this is or is not the 'norm' but I just received my brand
new iPhone here in the UK and once it had been activated on iTunes I
found that the home screen (the screen you can personalise with a
photo) already had a photo set against it !!!!

It would appear that someone on the production line was having a bit of fun - has anyone else found this ?

This, as is the way with all Apple thingies, quickly caught internet imagination and Mac-addicts were afraid that the poor girl might even lose her job. So there was relief all round when a rep from the Chinese assembly company, Foxconn, confirmed yesterday that she had indeed NOT lost her job:

The representative confirmed that the "iPhone girl" was one of its employees but declined to give details.

He said it was likely that the test photos were left in the phone's
memory "accidentally." The company is investigating the incident.

While this issue seems to have blown over for the time being, people undecided on whether they must buy an iPhone have one more entry in the "Why I should" column.

These Chinese people are every nowadays. Apparently they won the Olympics or something.
