The first incarnation of the iphone was 2G and apple stopped making them when they launched the 3g.

Also, while the selling point of the device is faster connectivity thanks to 3G, Apple has no control over govt. policies (btw: MTNL/BSNL do offer 3G in some markets in India).

The iPhone is a status symbol, I agree, but it is also one of the most useable and functional internet access devices. Try using an iphone for a couple of days and you'll never want to go back to the crap that the other companies have been selling us all these years.

I'm not a fanboy but I understand the value of the iPhone and I understand it's not perfect (yet). The problem that I think is that the Indian market is not (yet) mature enough for a smartphone (netphone) and that it might take a couple of more years to develop.

They are charging a premium for the 3G capability which cannot be utilised in any meaningful way in India. the 3g feature is useless and as an extension the model as well.

My contention is that when Apple has 2G models released elsewhere in the world why dont they do so here.

The other phones with TouchFlo technology, 3G, music, office applications, games, dual camera, video recording, etc (of good comparable quality and great performance with excess battery life like Samsung and LG) are available for that price band. So then whats the advantage of investing huge money in iPhone?? The brand name yes, I agree carries huge value, but current price of INR 31,000 or 36,000 is extremely high.

re: How much would you pay for the iPhone 3G this August?

So... without a 3G network iPhone becomes useless? i mean i can understand that u'd only want it if its with 3G, but useless, subhash? really?

re: How much would you pay for the iPhone 3G this August?

Sidin, Polldaddy.com....really?!

I guess fan boys like you who go gaga over some new but useless technology (atleast at the moment in India) is what keeping Apple away from giving sensible models at reasonable price.
