Toyota's Quaint Discomfort Syndrome - Strategy Muse

Toyota's Quaint Discomfort Syndrome

Sorry, this isn't new.

When Toyota Toyota passed General Motors in worldwide sales globally in the first quarter of 2007 it wasn't accepting the No. 1 position comfortably. It made some of its executives nervous to be the chased, rather than the chaser!

Now I have an idea.

Why not Toyota now chase the number two and number three auto companies combined. It would immediately morph back from the chased to the chaser again and be comfortable in its own skin again and go hell for leather against both.

After that it would be Toyota chasing the next three companies combined and so on until it became Toyota chasing all the other auto companies of the world combined.

After that, however, Toyota would end up with a circular error on its spreadsheet when it tried to chase and transcend all auto companies including Toyota combined.

But until that event would not Toyota be at peace with itself and numbing the daylight out of the competition?

Now isn't that a great idea?

Shouldn't Toyota pay me a fat fee for this roadmap to 'just a little this side of eternity'?

Wouldn't environmentalists put up "Wanted!" signs for me?
