Andhra Pradesh’s 19 businessmen-politicians aren’t really top bets to win the general election. But they will still likely come out winners. Stocks of construction and infrastructure firm Lanco Infratech Ltd have surged roughly 58% since 1 April, after its founder-chairman L. Rajagopal Rao, already a Congress MP, announced he's contesting from Vijayawada for Parliament. The Lanco scrip has risen steadily from Rs152.35 at the beginning of April to close at Rs230.00 on Thursday on the Bombay Stock Exchange. The story’s the same for the other stocks.
